The Hopps Town Characters

Below are the main characters featured throughout the series.

Jared is the main protagonist of the series. He is a huge Will Smith fan and loves all his movies. Jared is also a powerful psychic. He first discovers his abilities after making a wish at an abandoned well. However, unknown to him, Adrian and Jessica, the well is cursed. Soon the teen psychic learns to harness his powers with the help of his aunt Maybelle, just in time to stop a demonic entity from killing him and his friends.

But this is just one of the many interesting cases young Jared faces in the Hopps Town Series.

Maybelle is Jared's cool, witty aunt. Much like her nephew, she is also a powerful psychic whose powers became activated at such a young age too. Maybelle has been helping ghosts cross over and sent demons packing.

We're first introduced to Maybelle in, "The Scavenger (Second Edition)", when she comes to stay in Hopps Town when Jared's powers becomes active. She could not have come at a better time. Jared confides in her the trouble he and his friends are in, she jumps into action and helps them. Once Jared completes his first case, he now has more respect for her. Maybelle gives him her number in case he needs his fearless aunt. Little does he know that he will indeed need her much sooner than he thinks...

To the outside world, Jessica is a pretty, strong-willed girl, ready to stand up for her friends. She's also a lover of comics and superheroes, especially Wonder Woman. But Jessica's two close best friends, Jared and Adrian, know differently. They know Jessica's homelife is far from ideal. To her, it's a never-ending nightmare of physical and verbal abuse at the hands of her alcoholic mother, Bertha. She swore when she was 18, Jessica'd leave for college to get out of this hell.

But when Jessica, Jared and Adrian each makes a wish at a cursed well, her mother undergoes a strange personality transformation. It seems her wish came true...but with twisted strings attached. This would be the first of Jessica's paranormal encounters in "The Hopps Town Series".

Bertha was once a loving mother but when her husband betrays her, she changed, finding solace in bottles of beer or whiskey. Now a single-mother, she grows angrier with each passing week, resenting the fact that she's left alone to raise Jessica.

Seven years later, Jessica is close to finally leaving home and after a chance encounter at a cursed well, her mom changes. Bertha does eventually change when the curse breaks but as Jessica will come to learn, there's a dark secret Bertha has kept from her for years, that will literally haunt both mother and daughter, having deadly consequences.

Much like Jessica, Adrian is a big fan of comic books, especially Zack Snyder's "Justice League" movie. He is a soccer ace, scoring a plentiful of goals every year at school, hoping to get a college scholarship using his footballing skills. Despite his good looks and friendly personality, Adrian has very rarely ever had a girlfriend. On that night when he makes a wish at the cursed well, he wishes for a girlfriend as hot as his history teacher, Miss Byrne. But much like his friends' wishes, his comes true but with a wicked twist.

Throughout the series, Adrian proves a huge asset to Jared in investigating the hauntings and demonic attacks.
